Raymond was an outgoing person who loved sports, reading, and cooking. He was a hard worker and held two jobs for over 25 years with various companies. Raymond was also a sharp dresser, who had an affinity for stylish hats and shoes. He had a very good sense of humor and often provoked laughter wherever he went.
He had an adventurous streak in him that could be seen at a young age when joined the Air Force at age 17. He graduated on Friday and was enlisted by Monday. During his time in the service, he traveled to many places including Germany and Korea. According to him, those years in the service were some of the best years of his life.
After leaving the service, he returned home to Mayslick, Ky briefly prior to moving to Cleveland, Oh. He enjoyed spending time with his family and during many get-togethers over the years took great pleasure in spoiling his nieces and nephews. His family expanded when he married Emma, the love of his life, and enjoyed the love of her and her children. He was especially close to his niece, Cotilia Decembly, who had the opportunity to spoil him during his final years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Higgins, parents Samuel and Mary Higgins, and brothers Samuel Thomas Higgins, Wilburn Kelly Higgins, and Gene Austin Higgins. He is survived by his brother Arthur Higgins, sisters Dorothy (Leroy) Decembly, Mary Bennett, Lillian Higgins, sister-in-law Jennie Higgins and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
