On July 21, 2024, Rev. Anthony R. Gay Sr., affectionately known as (Sarge) Tony, made his transition from Earthly Saint to Heavenly Angel. Born to the union of George and Rosa Lee Gay, on October 4, 1940. He was raised and educated in Akron, Ohio.  Anthony R. Gay Sr. (83) went from labor to reward on July 21, 2024 at Gottlieb Hospital in Chicago Illinois. He was born to the union of George and Rosa Lee Gay in Akron, Ohio. He retired from a lifetime career in the United States Army after 28 years of service and became an ROTC Instructor at Barberton High School in Akron, Ohio. Later retiring from Morgan Park High School in Chicago Illinois. One thing for certain and two things for sure, he truly loved his occupation and took so much pride in his students.

Those awaiting Tony’s arrival in glory include his parents, George Gay and Rosa Lee Jackson; his sons: Anthony Gay Jr., Adika Gay and Prescott Prade; brother, George Gay; brothers-in-law,
Maurice and Michael Flynn, Rayfield and Raymond Mason; sisters, Georgia Lee Gay and Debra Boyd; father and mother-in-love, Willie (Earnestine) Ware Sr. and nephew, Anthony O. Gulley.

His memory will be cherished by his beautiful loving wife, Diane; his daughters, Pam Gay, Teresa (Derick) Williams, Abeni Gay, all of Akron, Ohio and Quiana (Jovan) Dukes of Illinois; sons, Akil
Gay of Akron, Ohio and Terrell (Sheketta) Mason of Illinois; brother, Carlos (Cheryl) Gay of Delaware; sisters, Sandra Horton of Akron Ohio; Naomi (Ben) Turman of Phoenix Arizona; Adrian
(Tyrone) Murrary of Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, Willie Ware Jr. and Robert Louis (Dora) Flynn; sister-in-law; Jacqueline Mason and Janice Flynn. 24 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday August 2, 2024, at New Greater Exodus MB Church 2900 West Adams Chicago, Illinois with Rev Edward Whitehead officiating. Condolences may be sent to
