CELEBRATION OF LIFE
Richard Frazier was born on July 10, 1938 in Albany, Georgia to the proud parents of Rosa Redding and Richard Frazier Sr. They welcomed him into the world. He had an older sibling, his beloved sister, Juanita Johnson who preceded him in death. As a child, he grew up on a street named Byron Road with loving family members, close neighbors and a multitude of children.
Richard received his primary and secondary education in the Dougherty County Public School system. He was very popular in the Class of 1957 of Monroe Senior High School in Albany, Georgia. He was an Honor Roll student who was awarded a college scholarship, but was unable to attend because the principal did not share with his family his acceptance letter in a timely manner. He looked forward to attending his class reunions as often as he could attend. Richard kept in contact with his class members. He was proud to be an alumni of Monroe Senior High School.
After school, he was drafted in the United States Army, and was on active duty for two years. He received an Honorable Discharge on December 31, 1967.
He lived in Stamford, Connecticut after his military service. Then he moved to Cleveland, Ohio, a city that he loved. Richard was a true Renaissance man. He loved music and the finer things in life. He had an adventurous spirit and definitely loved to travel. His time share experiences took him to many countries of interests; the Bahamas, Canada, Jamaica, Mexico and cities; Las Vegas, NV, Los Angeles, CA, Hilton Head, SC, Miami, FL and Myrtle Beach SC to name a few.
He was a caring and giving man to his many friends and family. He would shower them with gifts that he selected. He had been told many times that he could be a “buyer” for upscale stores. This showed in the way that he presented himself to others. Richard was a very dapper dresser.
Richard’s work career was with the Federal Government’s Department of U.S. Postal Service for thirty-five years until he retired. He then became employed at Preformed Line Products for seventeen years, a job that he truly loved and where he maintained life-long friendships.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to cherish his memories: a nephew, Wendell L. Johnson (Beverly), of Danbury, Connecticut: beloved cousins, Robert J. Davis of Lincolnton, North Carolina, Sandra R. Dixon (Robert) of Fayetteville, Georgia, JoAnn G. Johnson (Raymond) of Ramstein, Germany – NATO Air Force Base, Delores Jones of Dumfries, Virginia, Betty J. Simmons of Simpsonville, South Carolina; his devoted love one and caregiver Eloise Lewis, caring friends Kingsley (Jackie) Pipher and Charles Clinkscales; grandnieces and nephews, special godchildren and a host of wonderful co-workers and friends.
