Rodney Denton was born June 9, 1968, in Cleveland, OH, to William Denton Sr. and Barbara Ann Denton. Rodney attended Cleveland Public Schools and was dedicated to the culinary field for several years.
As a young child, he enjoyed playing football, where he thought he was the greatest running back of all time. Rodney was passionate about sports; he also enjoyed playing basketball and later became an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, the Guardians, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rodney loved watching the games with his mom, and you could count on his colorful commentary during each of those games. Rodney probably cheered louder than most and was one of the best sideline/at-home coaches that ever lived.
Rodney was a “girl-dad and had three daughters whom he loved dearly. It was his first daughter, Angela, who made him a dad, then Channtelle’, whom he called “Fat mama,” and Chasity known to her dad as “Na-na,”. He enjoyed every moment talking with his daughters on the phone about feelings, dreams, and life experiences that created deep connections.
Rodney, affectionately known as Rody Body, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rodney had an appreciation and enthusiasm for various musical styles and genres. He had a deep love for dancing, which was a central part of his personality. No matter where he was, he was the life of the party and loved being surrounded by friends and family. He especially loved spending time with his mother. Those who knew Rodney will remember him for his infectious smile and overwhelming laughter.
Rodney received his wings on June 21, 2025. His journey on this earth was one marked by love and compassion. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Rodney recently re-accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He looked forward to being baptized by his brother Deacon George, at his church but time did not permit.
Take your rest son. Take your rest our dear brother, father, family, and friend. Until we meet again.
