Ronald Leon Williams, affectionately known as “Tippy”, was born on June 1, 1946, in Akron, Ohio to Frank and Cleopatra Williams. He was the third child of six and often remembered as the most mischievous of the siblings. Ronald’s playful nature and infectious spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Ronald received his formal education in Akron, attending Margaret Park Elementary School, Innes Junior High School, and Kenmore High School. He furthered his studies at the University of Akron, where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. After teaching biology and chemistry at Buchtel High School, he pursued his passion for medicine and earned his medical degree from The Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio.
Ronald accepted Christ as his personal Savior at the young age of 7 years old and remained devoted to serving the Lord throughout his life. Raised as a child of a pastor, he was deeply involved in the church from an early age, and his faith laid the foundation for his commitment to God, his family, and his community. He had a profound love of studying the Bible and being a faithful steward for the Lord. Over the years, Ronald answered the call to serve in various roles in the church, including Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, Bible study teacher, and deacon. His greatest joy was ministering to his children, their friends, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and any young person that he encountered, offering them guidance, love, and spiritual support.
Ronald was a compassionate and dedicated Family Medicine physician who served the community with unwavering commitment, offering personalized care to patients of all ages. Known for a kind and empathetic approach, Ronald built lasting relationships with countless families, offering medical expertise, spiritual, and emotional support. His tireless dedication to the wellbeing of others was evident in every aspect of his practice, and he touched the lives of many with his skill, kindness, and generosity. Ronald will be remembered not only as a trusted doctor, but also as a mentor, a friend, and a true advocate for health and healing.
Ronald was a person of many passions, finding joy in both quiet moments and active pursuits. A devout student of the Bible, he spent countless hours reflecting on its teachings, drawing strength and guidance from its words. Outside of his personal life, Ronald enjoyed reading, exercising, running, and missionary work. Those passions provided him with both mental and physical balance. He also had a deep appreciation for jazz and gospel music. Often losing himself in their soulful and spiritual rhythms and found entertainment in watching karate and kung fu movies. He was often caught eating a Hostess snack or two and couldn’t get enough of his Snapple beverages. Above all, Ronald treasured time spent with family, cherishing the moments that allowed him to share love, laughter, and support. These hobbies were a testament to his vibrant spirit and zest for life.
On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, Ronald Leon Williams was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his father Frank Williams, his mother Cleopatra Williams, and his brother Kenneth Williams. Ronald leaves behind his wife, Monica Coulter-Williams; his children: Eshelle Young (LaMar), Leon Williams, Jennifer Dorsey (Daryl); his grandchildren: Terrance Griffith, Chloe Dorsey, Madison Young, Miles Williams, Nicholas Williams, Jadon Dorsey, Justin Dorsey, Cameron, Jaidyn, Amir, Cypress; his siblings: Yvonne Baxter, Paulette Baxter, Janice Kennerly, Michael Williams (Diana). He also leaves nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends who will mourn his passing, yet celebrate his life.
