Rosetta Iola Hardy (nee Monroe) was born January 26, 1937, to the late Neal & Ruby Monroe in Youngstown, Ohio. She was the oldest of their four children Blanche, Neal III, and Ann. Rosetta received her salvation at an early age and always enjoyed going to church. As the eldest child she had a natural responsibility as a caregiver using this as an opportunity to serve. During her life, she was a property manager, assistant nurse, and caregiver. However, her best role was being a mother.
Rosetta and Alphert married February 21, 1970, and their blended family was established. Eight was enough! Their children: Karen, Jackie, Cheryl, Deborah, Lee, Dolores, Carla and Kim. She was a true mother, teacher, disciplinarian and friend. She absolutely LOVED her daily cup of coffee aka her “think drink” that you sip and not gulp down (lol). She loved the holidays and spending time with her host of children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and yes, great great grandchildren. She loved her soap operas (The Young & The Restless), music, enjoyed indoor gardening, cooking, traveling and cheering on local sport teams. She also loved serving family and taking care of people. She was very generous and an avid Meteorologist who we could rely on for the most accurate weather forecasts in Cleveland and surrounding suburbs (lol). She was affectionately known as Rose, Rosie, Rosie Poo Poo, Grandma, Grandma Roses, GG Mama, Sister, Sister, Mother-n-Love just to name a few. This clearly shows the impression she had on everyone she knew.
We could always rely on her famous stories of growing up on a farm with her cow, Patsy.
Rosetta was predeceased by her parents Neal & Ruby Monroe, her brother, Neal Monroe III, her daughter, Karen Taylor and grandson, Brandon Parks. She is survived by her beloved husband, Alphert Lee Hardy, their children: Jacquelyn O’Neal (Garry), Cheryl Parks (Michael), Deborah Yeldell, Lee Hardy (Darinka), Dolores Chapman (Thomas), Carla McKissack (Avis) Kimberley Hardy, siblings Blanche Monroe and Ann Beasley and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
