On November 1, 2025, surrounded by family, Ruby Nell Primm Rose peacefully claimed victory over cancer and went home to be with the Lord. She was born on June 15, 1940, in Camden, Arkansas, as the eldest child of Louis Primm and Catherine Williams Primm.
Raised in Camden, Ruby embraced her role as the oldest of several siblings. She was an active member of Mount Gillard Baptist Church and a proud graduate of Lafayette High School’s Class of 1958. Following her graduation, she pursued further studies at Arkansas AM & N (now known as the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) for two years.
In 1960, Ruby relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where she married Willie Earl Brown. Their union was blessed with one son, Earl Conrad Brown. Following the end of that marriage, Ruby began her career in healthcare, working as a surgical technician and nursing assistant at Fairview Hospital until 1970.On April 25, 1970, she united in marriage with Larry James Rose. Their loving 52 year union was further blessed with two children, Gabrielle Marie Rose and Ormond James Rose. During this time, Ruby devoted herself wholeheartedly to being a nurturing wife, mother, and homemaker for 38 years. In 1998, she reentered the workforce, first serving as a cafeteria monitor and later as a safety officer with the Shaker Heights Police Department, where she remained until her retirement in 2020.
Ruby pursued interests in knitting, crocheting, gardening, and sewing. She earned a diploma in dressmaking from the Clark Sewing School of Dressmaking and Fashion Design and leveraged her skills to establish a home-based tailoring and dressmaking business. Ruby also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and was an enthusiastic viewer of murder mystery television programs, including Perry Mason, Columbo, and Murder, She Wrote.
Ruby maintained an active spiritual life, regularly attending church services. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church throughout the 1970s and 1980s and began attending Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in 1993. In 1996, her walk with Christ was beautifully renewed as she deepened her understanding of His love and rededicated her life to Him at Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Ruby contributed to the congregation by serving as correspondence secretary for the Christian Women’s Fellowship and participating in the Nurses Guild.
Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Rose, as well as her brothers Herman Weaver, Lavon Pierce, Alvin Primm, Eric Primm, and sister Marilyn Primm.
Ruby leaves behind three devoted children: Earl Brown and his wife MiraÍdes, Gabrielle Rose Pittman and her husband Virgil, and Ormond Rose. Her love and legacy continue through her four cherished grandchildren Arrielle Rose, Laurielle Rose, Audrey Brown, and Andrew Brown.
She is also survived by her siblings: Robert Primm of Cleveland, Ohio; Vera Partee of Camden, Arkansas; Charles Primm and his wife Emily of Savannah, Georgia, Barbara Davis of Little Rock, Arkansas; Virginia Primm Arnold and her husband Fredrick of Portales, New Mexico; Donald Primm and his wife Gloria of Austin, Texas; Evelyn Primm Cross and her husband Carlton of Camden, Arkansas; Ann Primm Green of Camden, Arkansas; Jamie Primm and his wife Doris of Lewisville, Texas; and Wanda Primm of Gurdon, Arkansas.
Additionally, she leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
