Salim was born (Gerald Lesile Terrance) on August 23, 1947, to William and Winifred Terrance. To that union Salim had 13 brothers and sisters to whom all precedes him in death.
In 1970 he met and married Kathy Barnhardt from that union was born, one son Gerald Lesile Terrance Jr. who preceded him in death, two daughters Ta-Tanishia LaNise Terrance-Gregory (Marvan R Gregory Sr.), LaShauna Nicole Terrance-Treadwell (John Treadwell).
Salim received his GED at Cuyahoga Community College in 1978. Then he went on to become a graduate of Cleveland State in communications. He held a job as a DJ at Cleveland State with his own radio Jazz show called “Salim @ Night”, he also demonstrated many of his other talents performing in plays for years @ the East Cleveland Theater. Salim loved Jazz, also loved to play tennis, not to mention he loved to write Poetry, all his Poems were signed “Salim The Great”. Salim was huge on African History studies and educating his children on their black heritage.
OK so lets not forget to mention his style of dressing, he could out dress you in his sleep, the coolest cat on the block. Salim was all about family spending time together and making lifetime memories.
This is a hard pill to swallow for us, he leaves a empty space in our hearts. Salim leaves to mourn his passing eight grandchildren: Monique, Shanishia, Deyvonne, Domoniqiue, Brionna, Johnna, Marvelous, Marvan Jr.: grandchild Deyshaunne who precedes him in death: seven great grandchildren: Shamari, Shamiya, Phoenix, Mason, Marley, Myio, and Harmony. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Forever in our hearts he will live, we will treasure all the great memories we have, he will never fade from our memories. Daddy you are gone in body but your spirit will last with us forever.
Humbly Submitted with Love,
The Family
