Sandra Yvonne Burks (affectionately known as Yvonne), was born on October 4, 1957, in Montgomery Alabama. She was the 5th child of Jureen and LC Burks. At the age of 5, Yvonne relocated with her family to Cleveland, Ohio where she attended Paul Revere Elementary, Nathan Hale Jr. High, and John Adams High School. During her time at John Adams, she loved hanging out with her friends and enjoyed her role as a high stepper with the Rebelettes. She was known for being very kind and had a giving spirit. She gave her heart to the Lord at an early age. She was committed to the church and faithfully served as an usher at Mount Olive Baptist Churches in Cleveland and Akron, and Ashburn Baptist Church in Chicago.
After high school, she attended the University of Akron where she majored in Business. From there she began her long career with the Federal Government where she worked for different branches in Cleveland and Chicago for more than 30 years. After retirement, she returned to the area and resided in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. In her leisure time she enjoyed arts and crafts, games and puzzles. She was also the family historian reminding family members of birthdays and anniversaries. But most of all, she loved shopping on QVC.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest brother Joe. She is survived by her siblings, Jimmie (Shirley) Burks of Bedford Hts, Ohio, Harold (Nanette) Burks of Warrensville Hts, Ohio, Mary (Robert) McGraw of Cornelius, North Carolina, Lenda (Dan) Sojourner of Akron, Ohio, Melvin Burks of Charlotte, North Carolina, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
