Sarah Ann Macon was born on January 19, 1949, to A.D. and Hattie Bell Gordon (deceased) in DeKalb, MS. She was the oldest of three children. Sarah began her Christian walk at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where her family faithfully attended, in DeKalb.
Sarah graduated from Kemper County High School in 1967. Shortly, thereafter, she relocated to Cleveland, Ohio to live with her aunt Texana (“Tex”) and John Nixon. She married the love of her life James Macon (deceased) on June 13, 1973. From this 46-year union, Keevin and Kyra were born.
Her love of sewing to make draperies and clothes for family and friends, started her 30-year career with General Motors Company, first as a seamstress, and then as a technician.
Sarah loved to travel, cook, watching the Cavaliers & Browns, and visiting casinos. Sarah and James took annual vacations with their children to family reunions, cruises, Niagara Falls, Disney World, and more. Her grandchildren were the center of her life. From supporting her grandsons with their school and sporting events to video calls with Alira, “baby girl.”
We will remember our Sunday dinners with the traditional southern dishes, including fried chicken (a requirement!) and sweet potato pie, coconut cake, and her world-famous red velvet cake.
As in any good book, all stories must come to a close, and in the book of Sarah Ann Macon the book closed on July 11, 2025. Sarah was preceded in death by her two brothers, Lancaster and Will.
Sarah leaves to treasure her loving memory, one son, Keevin Macon; one daughter, Kyra Stuckey (Reginald); three grandchildren, Mikhael and Elijah Macon and Alira Stuckey; one half-sister, Freddie Elliott; one half-brother Henry J. Moore; one sister-in-law Carrie Cistrunk and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
