Sarah Elizabeth Strickland-Donegan (Tootsie) was born on April 12, 1935 in Coalwood West Virginia to the union of Anderson and Agnes Phinsee Strickland who preceded her in death. She was the 11th child of 12 children that included three brothers: (Prince, Eligah, and Anderson) and eight sisters (Daisy, Gertrude, Gustee, Helen, Ruth, Marjorie, Ollie Mae, and Katherine) who all preceded her in death.
Sarah loved the Lord with all of her heart and accepted Christ into her life at a very young age. She loved listening to her gospel music. Sarah was raised in West Virginia until moving to Cleveland Ohio and marrying Harvey Donegan in February 1953. To this union was born 2 sons, Douglas (Butchie) and Anthony (Tee) who preceded her in death. After meeting the love of her life (Daniel Chatman) she had three other children: Leaander, Michael, and Dana. Michael preceded her in death.
Sarah attended Manpower bookkeeping school and worked for the S&G social club for many years until she left to care for her ailing mother. She loved playing bingo and going to the casinos. Sarah loved to cook and bake. She takes with her all of her recipes that she refused to share.
Sarah leaves to mourn her passing 2 sons and a daughter in addition to her nephew (Robert Pearson) and special friend (Patricia Nance). She was fortunate enough to be blessed with 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and 1 special great-great grandchild that she fondly called Sarah Elizabeth. Sarah leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
