Stanley Arthur Worthy Sr. (affectionately known as Poppa) was born on January 16, 1947, to Arthur Worthy Sr. and Margree Worthy. Stanley was the oldest of 3
children.
Stanley accepted Christ at an early age and attended Mt. Sinai Baptist Church when he was young.
Stanley attended Cleveland Public Schools, especially East Technical High School in the class of 1965, where he played basketball and (during Rec time at East
Tech High Stanley was an avid dancer and that attracted all the young ladies.} Stanley participated in various High Schools Rec (He had some great dance
moves).
Stanley enlisted in the United States Army where he served as Private First Class and received an Honorable Discharge. After being honorably discharged from
the US Army, he would attend Central State University (where he partied more than he studied). After having a thirst for knowledge, he would continue his
education at Case Western Reserve University and Tri-C.
Stanley was a loving and caring Father to Johnnie Jones (Wink), Stanley Worthy Jr., and Yvonne Worthy. He later became Poppa Stan to the Davis family.
Later in Life Stanley became a member of Faith Community Worship Center under the Leadership of Pastor Michael Perryman. He gladly served in any way
when asked in the Church. Supporting the Men’s Ministry was truly where he wanted to be a great asset. Later F.C.W.C. became under the Leadership of Bishop
B.L. Owens, Sr. And again, Stan stepped up to be the Men’s Ministry Leader, Co-chaired Men’s and Women’s Day and a Humorous Greeter.
In 1999 Stanley met his Soul Mate Bonnie J. Copes. The couple enjoyed the love of the Lord, attended church, travelled, stayed together and were happily
married in January 2015.
Stanley loved to play basketball and Dirty Hearts with his favorite guys. They called themselves the Dirty Hearts Society and were from all over the City and Out
of State. Stan loved to dance and whenever he went out the ladies from High School would summon Stan to dance with them and he accommodated them happily.
However, no one moved on the dance floor like Stan and Bonnie; they had their own special moves that others really admired.
Stan had a love working with his hands or whether it was a pen or pencil. There were many opportunities that crossed Stan’s path, and he enjoyed them all. He
was the Housing Inspector for Cleveland Housing Network until he became ill and retired. He would later become an employee part-time for The Shaker School
System as a Monitor. Stan really enjoyed working and interacting with the students. Stan would come home and share the hilarious stories of the day with Bonnie.
One of the many passions that Stan had was cooking, he would cook soup, prepare cucumber salad, and would make his own special BBQ sauce, and no one had
the special recipe but him. Stan loved to share his cooking with family and friends. He loved cooking on the grill, sitting in the backyard playing, and enjoying his
music. Stanley was a collector of rare coins, and he loved to dress.
Stanley transitioned to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 9:45 a.m. His wife Bonnie was right at his side when he made his transition from this
