Thelma Horton went home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2024. She was born to Foster Matthew Daniels and Sarah Jane Scaife Daniels on February 2, 1935. She was the youngest of 16 children and was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, a graduate of Central High School. Thelma Daniels wed Eddie Lee Horton in 1954 and from this union were born 7 children: five daughters, and a set of twin boys. Thelma warmly embraced being a mother to her children, her 5 “bonus” children, 5 nieces and 2 grandchildren. At the time of her passing, her family tree consisted of 30 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 44 great-great grandchildren. Thelma loved her family and her church family very much. She showed her love by opening her heart and home and giving of her time, resources and wisdom. She is known by many names: Mom, Mommy, Mother, Aunt Honey, Granny, Great-Granny and Mother Horton. Each name represents the vast array of relationships and the many hats she wore. Thelma was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
