Thelma Scott, affectionately known to friends and family as “Little Bit” was born in Canton, Ohio on July 26, 1956. The youngest of ten, she was the baby daughter of John Henry Scott and Minnie Wood Scott. She attended Crouse elementary school, West Junior High and was a 1974 graduate of Buchtel High School. She earned her Associate’s degree in the field of Healthcare and remained in that area of work during her life as a younger woman. More recently, she had found her place in the telecommunications field as an employee of Plus One Communications, Inc.
Thelma personified loyalty. Always a devoted Mother, she supported every endeavor taken by her daughters Stacey and Jazz. She fondly regarded them as “her first and her last” and her life’s best work. She was the wind beneath their wings.
Thelma loved music and spending time with friends. She enjoyed watching her favorite shows on Netflix and OWN, but most importantly, Thelma liked to help others. Whether it be advice, a helping hand or just a shoulder to lean on, she was a loyal and dependable friend.
She is preceded in death by her Mother Minnie Wood Scott and her father, John Henry Scott, sisters Marilyn Mosley, Ellen Duncan, Rose Flowers, Joyce Nesby, and Barbara Ann Nesby; brothers Ronald Nesby and John Henry Scott.
To cherish her memory, she leaves daughters Stacey and Jasmine Burch, their father, Daniel Burch; brother William “Billy” Scott (Theresa); sister Marion Nesby; friends Sheila Henderson, Aprill Griffith, Maxine Slappy, Rhonda “Linny” Brewer, and Adrienne McKee. She leaves nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
