With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother Theodosia Mae Henry Jones 77, who left us on Sat Feb 8th.
Dodie lived a life full of love, kindness, and compassion. She had an incredible ability to make anyone feel special and welcome. Her genuine care for people was evident in the countless ways she touched their lives.
Dodie had an adventurous spirit and a longing to explore the world. She had dreams of traveling the US, and while she didn’t always have the means to do so, she traveled the world through her love for stories and the experiences of others. She found joy in the simple pleasures and shared her love of discovery with all who knew her. She was always ready with a good story to share and if it involved her two children, grandkids or great grandkids she would be so excited to tell the story and laugh the entire time. Dodie had a passion for fishing that not many knew about. While she stopped going much after knee replacement surgery, she still talked about her best fishing days. Dodie was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother and had a nickname for every one of them. Even many friends and extended family would find their names changed to her many nicknames.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Dodie was preceded in death by her parents Milton Edward Henry and Betty Jane Byrd, Grandson Brandon Ferguson and great-grandson Diante McCowin who recently received his wings on January 23rd, 2025.
She is survived by her two children Michelle (Gary) Henry Crawford, Milton (Peggy) Henry, Granddaughter Brittany Crawford, Great-Grandsons Terez Thomas and Brandon Ferguson Jr, Great-Granddaughter Breelynn Ferguson and Fiancé Arthur Saunders. Also, many extended family members and friends will forever cherish her memory.
A memorial service to celebrate Dodie’s life will be held on Sat February 22nd at Noon at Stewart & Calhoun 529 West Thornton Ave Akron Ohio 44307.
Rest in peace with our dear loving mother. Your love and kindness will continue to inspire us all. You leave us wanting just one more story and one more big hug
