Tracee Anne McClain was born on June 25, 1963, and was called home to Allah on March 21, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Rose McClain and Stewart McClain.
Tracee lived a vibrant and active childhood, always engaging in a variety of groups and hobbies. This spirited energy became a defining thread throughout her life. At the age of 16, she relocated to Irvine, California, where she completed high school, began her career as a probation officer, and joined Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., where she was affectionately known as “ShowTyme” by her Sorors.
In the mid-1990s, Tracee returned to Akron, Ohio, where she met James McNary. From this union, they were blessed with a beautiful daughter. Not long after, Tracee joined the Nation of Islam, where she met and later married Brother Anthony Muhammed (Gibson). Together, they welcomed two sons, whom she lovingly referred to as her “young kings.”
A lifelong learner, Tracee pursued higher education with determination, earning an associate degree in surgical technology and a bachelor’s degree in political science. She was deeply committed to serving her community, generously giving her time and talents. She prepared and served meals for Kwanzaa celebrations with Project Ujima, supported cultural events at the African Festivals at Lock 3, and tutored students in French through Upward Bound. Tracee also shared her artistic gifts on stage, performing in productions such as Scrooge and Cabaret at the Knight Stage.
Tracee embraced life fully. She loved traveling, attending concerts and comedy shows, and dancing with joy. Many knew her warm presence on the campus of The University of Akron, where she served food—and smiles—through Chick-fil-A. To her, it was always her pleasure.
Above all, Tracee cherished her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and watching her grandchildren grow.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: daughter, Aracee Abraham (Dajon); sons, Ajani Muhammad and Ajai Muhammad (Amani); grandchildren, Aiden Hargrove, Bailee Abraham, and Egypt Abraham; sister, Kimberlee Daniel (Jimmie); brothers, William McClain (Mya) and Kevin McClain; nieces, Niquiesha Blocker (Jovan), Natasha Ervin, Natoya Ervin (Evelyn), and Jazmin McClain; nephew, Dante McClain (Mikala); uncles, Renard Harmon, Bernard Harmon, and Kenneth Harmon (Marlana); aunt, Kitty Ariza; along with 12 great-nieces and nephews, 5 great-great-nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, and a lifetime of cherished friends.
Tracee will be eternally loved and deeply missed.
When remembering Tracee, may you always carry with you her infectious laugh, her radiant smile that could light up any room, and her warm, inviting spirit that made everyone feel seen and loved.
