Vera Jean Wilson-Linscomb 76 of Akron Ohio died peacefully on October 1st 2024. She will be forever missed by her family and loved ones.
Vera Jean Wilson-Linscomb was born on August 14th,1948 to Perry and Mary Wilson in Akron Ohio.
Vera was introduced to the lord at the early age of four and joined Prince of Peace at the age of eight. Jean led songs in the children’s choir and sang in all of her high school musicals until graduation. Jean loved sports, as a child she participated and enjoyed track, tumbling, basketball, and was on the jump rope team. While attending Schumacher Elementary, Jean was featured at a University Of Akron basketball halftime show while on the jump rope team, she was ten year old.
Jean graduated from Buchtel High School in 1966. Jean was inquisitive and hardworking, she loved reading and education. These things led her to pursue a profession in nursing.
She started working at Green Cross Hospital at Summa Western Reserve as a nursing assistant and was encouraged by the staff to attend nursing school. Jean graduated from nursing school as a LPN, as she continued to work for Summa Western Reserve. Later she would enroll in the University of Akron School of Nursing graduating in 1993 with a bachelor’s of science in nursing, and was employed by Akron General Medical Center. Jean retired in 2010. After retiring her love of education led her to enroll in Akron U’s 60 plus program concentrating on political science and law.
Jean was very independent and she lived life her way. God was a priority in Jean’s life, she always fulfilled her goals, and was a person who spoke her truth. Jean had a wonderful sense of humor, she was intelligent, insightful, and loving.
Jean had her son Richard Darnell Wilson on December 21st, 1966, and they forged through life together, it was Jean and Richard against the world. Jean said that if it had not been for Richard she would not have become the woman she was. Jean was determined to have a better life for herself and her son.
Vera Jean Wilson-Linscomb was preceded in death by her parents Perry C. and Mary H. Wilson, sister Joetta Wilson, and most loving granddaughter Lakisha Lashawn Wilson.
Jean is survived by her brother Perry Tyrone Wilson, her son Richard Darnell Wilson Sr. (Terran),three grandsons Richard Jr., Britten and Trenten Wilson, one grandchild Antonio Dorman Jr., nephews Michael and Pat Wilson ,nieces Rebecca, Nicole, and Heather Wilson, cousins Robert Brown Jr. and Diane Campbell, and a host of family and friends.
