Ms. Victoria Rose Dorsey lovingly known as Vicky was born on June 2, 1970 to the union of James Dorsey & Elizabeth (Dorsey) Sabir. She was born at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland Ohio.
She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age and grew up with the love of Jesus Christ in her heart. She rededicated her life to the Lord later in life. Vicky understood the importance of a having a personal relationship with Jesus.
Vicky had a brilliant mind and enjoyed learning. She excelled throughout her entire educational and professional career. We always joked around and teased her that she was a lifetime student. She received her diploma from Shaw High School. Her Postsecondary education consisted of the following. She received a Certificate in Microsoft Network Engineer from Kaplan College. She earned an Associate in Applied Business in Microcomputer Systems Management from Bryant & Stratton. A Bachelor of Arts degree from The Ohio State University. She received her Master of Information Technology – Internet Security from
American Intercontinental University. Vicky was a member of Iota Phi Theta Sweethearts Inc. Beta Mu Chapter of The Ohio State University.
Vicky met her life partner Bill via an introduction by a common friend. He loved to watch her sing Karaoke and visit everyone. They were both IT people and this common interest helped draw them together. Their friendship grew into a committed relationship, falling in love and promising to spend the rest of their lives together, planning to travel and spend time with family and friends. As a city girl most of her life, she enjoyed going to their lake property in Minnesota and learning to make campfires, drive the boats, the 4-wheeler, and always wanting to hang out with family and friends at the lake.
Vicky was a true extrovert. She connected with people easily and made everyone feel welcome and part of her family. She would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Vicky loved to travel and did so extensively with her beloved life partner Bill Sturgis. They were the perfect “Techie” couple and enjoyed their weekly trivia nights at local area venues. Vicky also enjoyed a game of chance every now and then.
Vicky was a lover of all kinds of music and enjoyed dancing. Growing up in the 80s, there was always conversation about who was better, Michael Jackson or Prince. Vicky, however, loved the music of both musical geniuses equally. It’s to no surprise that she enjoyed a long and rewarding career with the Cleveland Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and was currently serving as the Director of Network Engineering. In addition, it should also be noted that during her career path she also taught Information Technology at Bryant Stratton located in Cleveland Ohio.
As we all matured in life we learned over the years the importance of family time, fellowship, and self-care and therefore we made a commitment to connect with each other on a more frequent basis. From this endeavor came what we call the family Sister Circle: Vicky Dorsey, Pat Johnson, Annette Hampton, Quiana Brown, Marcialena Rivers, Thelma Gantt, & Dawn Wade. We will miss our sister dearly and will continue to honor her memory.
