Virginia Jenkins, born on June 29, 1945, in Youngstown, Ohio, passed away on September 17, 2024, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love and creativity.

Virginia dedicated her career to public service, working as an Administrative Clerk for various Federal, County, and Local Government entities in Ohio. She was also a proud business owner, operating her own hair salon and showcasing her artistic talents through participation in numerous art shows and fairs, including exhibitions searchable in the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

Her passions extended beyond her profession. Virginia found joy in gardening, sewing, cooking, and painting, often creating beautiful artwork featuring angels and representations of the Black community. Family cookouts were a cherished tradition, where she delighted everyone with her favorite dishes, including fried white bass, fried chicken, collard greens, and banana pudding.

Married to the late (2010) Calvin Jenkins on February 13, 1981, Virginia nurtured a loving family. She is survived by her children Callie Padgett, Chad Padgett, and her grandchildren: Cameron, Chay, Carter, and Courtney Smith, along with Timothy, Chad, Carisa Padgett, Sonceeray Baker, Latonya, and Mary Jenkins. She leaves behind her siblings: Wilma, Betty, Vergil, Anna Lou, Roberta, Diane, Van Padgett, and stepbrother Coleridge King. A faithful Baptist Christian, Virginia cherished her family, her community, and the memories of a life well-lived. Her favorite place in the world was at home on Matherson Avenue, where she poured her heart into every detail. Virginia Jenkins will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her strength, creativity, and unwavering love for her family.
