WARREN TERRELL JOHNSON was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 25, 1977, to the late Richard Warren Johnson and Betty Jean Johnson. He was the youngest of six children of a blended family of love and accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age, while being baptized at Lee Memorial A.M.E. Church in Cleveland.

As a young man Warren inherited a passion for bowling from his father and bowled in several leagues until his teenage years. He boasted that he threw a “mean curve ball” and received several trophies for his accomplishments. He also enjoyed playing baseball and would often laugh about the time that he played catch in the back yard and was left to take the blame for an errant pitch from his brother. Later, he would recall the incident when giving a toast as the best man at a wed- ding; a toast he titled “A Brother’s Love ” He got his loving nature and caring spirit from his mother. He loved her dearly and would talk about her homemade dinner rolls or her chicken and dumplings at holiday gatherings long after she passed.

Warren was educated in the Cleveland Municipal School District and graduated from Glenville High School in 1995. It was at Glenville that he first met Shakira See who would later become the love of his life. His fondness for sports led him to join the Glenville football team and his size and strength helped him to excel against opponents. He enjoyed playing on the line of scrimmage, or the trenches as he called it, and felt that you had to have “heart” to play there. He would keep that affection his entire life and became an avid Browns, CAVS, Indians, and Buckeyes fan. Nevertheless, Glenville would always remain his number one team and he and Shakira could often be seen wearing Tarblooder sweatshirts around town and even when vacationing.

In 1996, Warren enrolled at Youngstown State University where he studied computer science. After leaving YSU he worked as a delivery driver for Rent-A-Center and then as an armed security guard for Tenable Security. He began working for the City of Cleveland in 2010 as a Corrections Officer where he became lifelong friends with many co-workers. He enjoyed sharing stories of how he would have to handle disorderly prisoners but would later earn their respect by the wav he treated them. His smile and lightheartedness were his trademarks and he incorporated them into his work and his relationships. In 2018, Warren left the City of Cleveland and became a Corrections Officer for the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department. At the County he would often have to guard unruly prisoners but had no trouble gaining their compliance and their respect. He would remain with the Sherriff’s Department until his untimely death. After hearing of his passing, several inmates have offered their condolences in conversations and on social media which is a testament to his outstanding character.

Warren relished family gatherings and being the life of the party at celebrations. He loved rehashing old times when his older brothers Greg or Jarvis came to visit and couldn’t wait to laugh about fond memories when his sister Denise came to town. He treasured his sister Mariea (Penny) and depended on her immensely for advice and guidance after the passing of his mother. He particularly liked that she could make turkey and dressing and lemon Jell-O cake that tasted just like moms, and he wanted her to make it every holiday. He truly enjoyed talking about sports with his brother Deon and considered Deon II more of a little brother than a nephew. He especially valued spending time with his lovely daughters, Darne (Princess) and Ariyan (Angel), and shared that love all over Facebook. He spent hours on Facetime and texting them when they were not together.

He obtained great favor with the Lord, and his path would cross Shakira’s once more. He would often joke that she had jumped out of his football locker at Glenville to be a part of his life, and it was obvious that he had found his soulmate. Their eternal love would lead to matrimony on August 21, 2021, and two beautiful families were joined as one. Shakira opened her heart to Darne and Ariyan, and Warren welcomed her son Antwan into his. He enjoyed traveling and dining out with Shakira and the two were inseparable. He was excited about the life that they were building together, but the Lord needed another angel. So, on July 3, 2022, Warren was called home to be with the Lord and left us with a lifetime of wonderful memories to cherish.

Those left to share his legacy of love are; his devoted and beloved wife Shakira Johnson; two daughters: Darne Jackson (Kwan) and Ariyan Johnson; one stepson: Antwan Anderson Jr.; one grandson: Kameron Jackson; father-in-law Willis See; mother-in- law Ella See; three brothers: Gregory (Anne) Johnson, Jarvis (Donnie) Stewart and Deon (Tryna) McCaulley Sr.; two sisters: Denise Johnson-Ward and Marie McCaulley- Williams (affectionately called Penny); two brothers-in-law: Devin See and Joey See; two sisters-in-law Amber See and Autumn See: aunts: Pearlie Mae (Booker) Eddy, Edyth (Thomas) Moore, Patrice (Terrence) Nance: uncles: Eric Johnson. Raymond Johnson. Donald Owens; Pastor Terrence (Peggy) Stewart: nieces and nephews: Michael, Lakira, Treveon, Deon II, Jaylen, Nikki, Alia, Marquis, Tamara, Denyse, Gregory, Alexandria, Benjamin, Dominique, Kiana and Emma; and a host of cousins and friends.
