Celebrating the Life of William “Bill” Ervin Hall

February 22, 1947 – July 18, 2026

William “Bill” Ervin Hall, age 79, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Though our hearts are saddened by his passing, we gather to celebrate a life well lived—a life defined by faith, service, hard work, and unconditional love for his family.

Bill was born on February 22, 1947, in Cairo, Georgia, to the late John W. Hall Sr. and Frances L. Hall. As a young child, he moved with his family to East Cleveland, Ohio, where he was raised and attended Shaw High School. While proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force, Bill completed his education by earning his high school diploma, reflecting the determination and perseverance that would characterize his life.

Following his honorable service in the Air Force, Bill began his career with Gray Drug Warehouse. He later joined the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA), where he served in several positions throughout his career. Through his dedication, dependability, and strong work ethic, he earned the respect of his colleagues before retiring after many years of faithful service.

Bill found great joy in sports and the fellowship they brought. He enjoyed football, basketball, golf, bowling, and softball, whether participating or cheering from the sidelines. He was an enthusiastic and loyal fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers and rarely missed an opportunity to support his hometown team. One of Bill’s greatest passions was cooking. He found joy in preparing meals for his family and took pride in bringing everyone together around the table. Whether trying a favorite recipe or cooking a meal from scratch, he expressed his love through the food he prepared. For Bill, cooking was more than a hobby—it was one of the many ways he cared for the people he loved and created lasting memories with family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Hall Sr. and Frances L. Hall; his brothers, John W. Hall Jr. and Richard L. Hall; and his beloved sister, Mary Hall.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted and loving wife, Helen L. Hall; his beloved children, Reginald Williams, Erika T. Hall, and Robin M. Hall; his beloved brother, Alfred L. Hall; sister-in-law, Patricia Hall, wife of Alfred L. Hall; sister-in-law, Young Sung Hall, widow of the late Richard L. Hall; seven cherished grandchildren; eleven adored great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his love, kindness, and wisdom.

To know Bill was to know a man of quiet strength, integrity, humility, and compassion. He believed in working hard, providing for his family, treating others with kindness and respect, and living with dignity. His steady presence, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for those around him made him a source of comfort, guidance, and encouragement. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

The Hall family extends its heartfelt gratitude for every prayer, comforting word, visit, phone call, floral tribute, and act of kindness shown during this time of bereavement. Your love and support have brought strength and comfort that will never be forgotten.
