It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William Dorsey Harrison, affectionately known as Will. Born on May 4, 2002, in Akron, Ohio, to Gregory B. Harrison and Marletta J. Lewis, Will went home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2024, at the age of 22.
Will was a proud graduate of Archbishop Hoban High School, class of 2020. He continued his education at Mt. Union University, where he studied Sports Administration, a field that perfectly suited his passion for sports and competition.
Will was a remarkable individual with many outstanding qualities. He was incredibly smart, known for his sharp wit and infectious humor. His strong determination was evident in everything he did—once he believed in something, he stood firm and unwavering. There was no changing his mind. Will was dependable, the kind of person you could always count on; if you needed him, he was there. He was fiercely competitive, whether on the football field, basketball court, track, or even in a game of Uno, Monopoly, or video games. Winning was in his nature.
Despite his competitive spirit, Will had a gentle soul and a pure heart, often described as an angel on earth. His infectious personality could light up any room, making him the life of the party. People were naturally drawn to his vibrant energy, and everyone wanted to be around him.
Will was a true sports fanatic and had a love for hot and spicy food. He cherished spending time with family and friends, always seeking new experiences and enjoying life to the fullest. He had a taste for the best of everything and lived with an enthusiasm that was both inspiring and contagious.
Among all his achievements and passions, Will’s greatest joy was his son, Mizell, whom he lovingly called “Dutta-Butt.” Will’s legacy of love and light continues to shine through Mizell, ensuring that his spirit lives on forever.
Will was preceded in death by his brother, Gregory Quenton Harrison; grandmother, Brenda J. Lewis; grandfather, Gordon L. Gilmore; uncles, Jeffrey G. Neal, Willis B. Gilmore, and Roy H. Gilmore; and aunt, Arnita Caryle.
Will leaves to cherish his memory his son, Mizell J. Harrison; parents, Gregory B. Harrison and Marletta J. Lewis; brothers, Jordan L. Harrison of Indianapolis, IN, and James R. Harrison of Akron, OH; grandmother, Elleaise Williams; and grandfather, Joe L. Lewis. Uncles: Griffin Gilmore of Augusta, GA; John (Tamera) Harrison; Sydney (Angela) Harrison; Treymane Williams; Marc (Shanaray) Neal, all of Akron, OH; Eric (Ilene) Lewis of Phoenix, AZ; and Joe A. Lewis of Akron, OH. Aunts: Debra Harrison of Chicago, IL; Dorothy Gilmore of Augusta, GA; Mary Horton of Decatur, GA; Mrs. Patty (Micheal) Jackson of Woodbridge, VA; Melanie Lewis; and Lea Neal, both of Akron, OH. William Dorsey Harrison will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will forever remain in our hearts as a beacon of joy, love, and a reminder of his brave spirit of living life to its fullest.
