Rev. Willie G. Robinson, Sr., age 94, went home to be with the Lord on November 26, 2022.

Willie G. Robinson, Sr. was born on June 18, 1928, in Lowndesboro, Alabama to Charlie Robinson, Sr. and Hattie Robinson, who both preceded him in death. Willie was the 3rd born of six children.

Willie completed his high school education in Lowndes County, Alabama, and began his career as a
mechanic at the tender age of 18 years old. His first job was at a local gas station in Montgomery,
Alabama. At the age of 20 Willie met the love of his life, Susie Belle Peterson. Three years later, they
were married on December 30, 1951. The couple then moved to Columbus, Georgia, where they stayed
for two years, before relocating to Cleveland, Ohio, where Willie continued his career as an auto
mechanic, ultimately retiring from the City of Cleveland in 1992. The couple shared four children, Willie
G. Robinson, Jr., who preceded Willie Sr. in death, Peggy Terry (nee Robinson), Henry Robinson, and
Cynthia Hughes (nee Robinson).

Willie accepted Christ in his early 30’s and was baptized by Reverend Henry Brown of New Light
Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland. He was very active in church, starting as a deacon, where he
visited the sick and shut in, as well as serving in prison outreach ministries. Willie was called into the
ministry in 2007 and did his trial sermon at Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Elyria, Ohio under the
leadership of Rev. Larry D. Harville. Willie and Susie were long time members of The Greater New
Beginning Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to Willie’s love for Christ, he enjoyed the outdoors,
whether he was working on a car or working in the yard. He and Susie loved their flowers. He was very
talented with his hands and could build just about anything. Willie enjoyed listening to Blues and Gospel
music, especially hymns. Willie was kind and often had a smile on his face, and would always make
himself available to help anyone in need and was loved and respected by those who knew him. Willie,
affectionately known as Uncle Red, to his many nieces and nephews, was a sharp dresser and often
referred to as the “Cool Uncle”.

Willie departed this life on November 26, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Susie
Belle Robinson, his five siblings, Eva Cole, Mary Brown, Charlie Robinson, Jr., Georgiann Jenkins and
Dorothy Peterson, his son Willie G. Robinson, Jr., grandson Kevin D. Terry and son in law Robert L. Terry.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three children, Peggy Terry (Garfield Hts. OH), Henry Robinson (Sheila
Robinson/Carmel, IN) and Cynthia Hughes (Warrensville Hts. OH), eight grandchildren, Kendra (DeeDee)
Greene, Kianna Robinson, Chad Barrett, Kristin Robinson, Kandyce Hughes, Keisha Hughes, Kristopher
Terry and Kourtney Burns, along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
