Norma was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and moved to Akron, Ohio when she was 10 years old. She attended South High School and The University of Akron. Norma has worked for the Calhoun Funeral Home family for 20 years and she retired from the Community Action Council Head Start program.

Norma is proud to be an Eastern Star Mother Advisor for Girls Assembly and a member of Daughters of Al-Kaf #144. She is also a cheerleading coach for the South Rangers in Akron, Ohio and a dance instructor specializing in ballroom dance, hand dancing, and line dancing. Roller skating is one of her favorite activities. Norma has two children and four grandchildren whom she loves to shower with love and attention.
