Al C. Rice went home to be with the Lord on September 30, 2020.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years Alison C. Rice. His parents Delores and Lawrence Johnson and children, Al Rice II and Alisha Bills.
Grandchildren: Jarvis Bills, Roman Bills and Alaizhion Rice.
Al C. Rice was an only child born on November 4, 1960; his mother called him “a sweet son.”
He was raised in the Superior, Wade Park neighborhood on East 82nd Street across from the old East High School. He attended the Cleveland Public Schools, and during his High School years he became a Star Athlete for the East High School Mighty Blue Bombers Football team. Proudly graduating on June 25, 1979.
Shortly after graduation Al met the girl of his dreams, Miss Alison Gordon, and she caught his eye and heart. They happily married and remained as one for 41 years. To this union, a son Al Rice II and daughter Alisha were born.
He showered Alison with lots of love, being a great husband and father. He often serenaded her with limousine rides to many events. Telling her he wanted to enjoy the luxury of riding in a limousine without having to be chauffeured to a funeral. This year on her 62nd birthday he expressed his love and appreciation with 50 roses.
Al was a father that interacted with his children; he attended the Boy Scouts with his son and earning merits, badges, over the years. He attended baseball games, and most years took them to Disney on Ice. He enjoyed taking them to the amusement parks i.e.… Geauga Lake, Cedar Pointe, the County and State Fairs, and many amusement parks. He even rode the roller coasters, later expressing that he was terrified, but wanted to be with his children.
Alisha was the apple of his eye, he was her protector, he enrolled her in charm school, took her to see Patti Labelle. He wanted to show her how a man should treat a woman. He carried his love over to his grandchildren, putting trains together, playing games, teaching them how to be kids and have fun. He enjoyed life, cookouts, and family functions. Al Rice worked multiple jobs through the years. To name a few he worked at Community College Stretch Tape, a Season with the City of Cleveland, the State E-Check, a truck driver for Bonnie Speed, University Hospital and driving trucks. Al was best known for being a self-employed as a mechanic. He really enjoyed working with his hands and fixing anything from cars to household items
Al Corinthian Rice made his departure September 30, 2020. He was greeted at Heavens Gates by a host of family. His grandmother Annabelle Brown, and grandfather John Brown. His grandmother Drucella Johnson; aunts Thelma Brown, Mildred, Dawn and Raye; uncles Frank and Anthony. His mother in-law Angela, Father in-law Alphonso Gordon; brother-in-law Alan and nephew Dennis Gordon.
He leaves behind his wife Alison Rice; mother, Delores and father, Larry Johnson; children, Al Rice II and Alisha Bills (Jarvis Sr.); grandchildren, Alaizhion Rice, Jarvis Bills II and Roman Bills; Uncle Jesse and Aunt Cleo Booker; sisters-in-law Debbie Gordon and Denise Gordon, along with a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends.
