Alberta (Perry) Aikens, was born November 30, 1937 in Lincoln Heights, Ohio to the late Fred Perry, Sr. and Lucinda Skelton Perry. She was the third of six children, three preceded her in death; Mollie Perry Williams, John “Bunchie” Perry and Ruth Perry. Alberta passed away on May 29, 2023 due to a long battle with dementia.
in 1956, Alberta graduated from Lockland Wayne High School in Lincoln Heights, Ohio. She then moved to Cleveland Ohio and lived with her uncle Lugene Jones and aunt Etha Jones for a couple of years until she met Allen Aikens and they married in 1958. From this union Darlene, Allene and Allen, Jr. were born. She loved working in the medical field, starting as a nursing assistant and department secretary at different hospitals in the Cleveland area. She ended her career at the Cleveland Clinic in the research department and retired in 2005 after 30 years of service. While in Cleveland she studied the bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized in 1962, becoming one of Jehovah Witnesses.
Alberta is survived by her brother Fred Perry, Jr. (Mary), sister Shirley Middlebrook. Her three children Darlene Henry (Curtis Jr.), Allene Aikens and Allen Aikens Jr. Along with four beloved grandchildren Allene Poole (Fred, II), Doni Henry, Curtis Henry, III, Alaycha Aikens-Rainey. As well as four great grandchildren, Jace Allen Poole, Fred Lee Poole III, Jonah Dondwell Henry and Kham Eli Poole. She also leaves to mourn a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
