Alfred Wayne Briggs (known to most as Wayne) was born on August 30, 1959, in Cleveland, Ohio to Otis Sr. and Ruth Briggs. He was the fifth child of seven children from this union. Wayne accepted Jesus Christ at a young age and recommitted himself to Christ within the last year of his life.
Wayne completed school in the Cleveland Public School System where he graduated from East High School. He loved being around others, laughing and joking, watching sports and listening to music. He dressed meticulously and loved having a fun time.
In 1980, Wayne joined the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country for four years. He came home to readjust to civilian life. He worked for and retired from the Warrensville Developmental Center for approximately twenty- five years where he helped many people with disabilities. He was a dedicated, conscientious, helpful and hardworking man. He was well-loved and respected by his peers.
The Lord called Wane home Sunday morning on August 7, 2022. He was preceded in death by both parents, Otis Sr and Ruth Briggs; and his brothers James, Otis Jr. and Walter Briggs. Wayne leaves to cherish his memory his four children Alex Samantha, Tavon, and Lakota; ex-wife Yolanda; three siblings Mary (Samuel Sr) Williams, Ronald (Joan) Briggs Sr and Sharon (A. C. Jr) Franklin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly. It is for certain that Alfred Wayne Briggs will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Brothers and Sisters, we do not
you to be uninformed about
those who sleep in death, so that
you do not grieve like the rest of
mankind, who have no hope.
For we believe that Jesus died
and rose again, and so we
believe that God will bring
with Jesus those who have fallen
asleep in him.”
