Alice Blanton, born on February 14, 1926, in Fulton, Alabama, passed away on May 1, 2023, at the age of 97. Alice was the beloved daughter of Eugene Mitchell and Rossie Sanders Mitchell. She was raised in a warm and loving family and was a true “daddy’s girl,” with her father affectionately calling her “Jo.”
Throughout her life, Alice was known for her incredible strength and independence. She had a strong work ethic and was all about her business, always making sure that everything was taken care of. Although she had no children of her own, Alice had a deep love for her nieces and nephews and treated them as if they were her own.
Alice was married to the love of her life, Billy L. Blanton, for 30 years. During their time together, they shared many beautiful moments, and Alice always spoke of him with great love and admiration.
Alice had a deep passion for gardening, and her yard was immaculate. She loved nothing more than spending time tending to her plants and flowers. She was also an excellent cook and could whip up a delicious meal in no time. Her chicken wings, rice, and gravy were legendary, and her love for food extended to her passion for beautiful things, nice shoes, clothes, and everything related to fashion and beauty. Alice had an eye for design and loved to decorate.
Alice’s favorite color was lavender, and she loved listening to old gospel music, with James Cleveland and Mahalia Jackson being some of her favorites. She was a kind and generous soul who will be missed by all who knew her.
Alice Blanton will be remembered as a strong, independent, and loving woman who lived life on her terms. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on forever in their hearts.
