In Loving Memory of Alice Annie Reen Bell Flanigan
September 11, 1933 – January 4, 2026
“A Virtuous Woman: Faithful, Beautiful, and True”
Alice Annie Reen (Bell) Flanigan, a radiant daughter of the King and a cornerstone of her family, was called home to her eternal rest at the age of 92. Born on September 11, 1933, in Abbeville, Alabama, she was the youngest daughter of the late Mamie and James Bell. Alice was a woman whose outward beauty was only surpassed by the grace and holiness she carried within.
A Legacy of Family and Love
In 1948, Alice’s family migrated to Cleveland, Ohio, seeking the promise of a better life, a promise that was richly fulfilled. She was educated in the Cleveland Public Schools and grew into a woman of poise and character.
On March 17, 1953, Alice united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Robert Edward Flanigan. Together, they built a home anchored in commitment. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Robin Sharon and Rhonda Lanette, whom they cherished deeply.
Alice’s heart, however, was too large to be contained by the walls of her own home. She extended her maternal embrace to welcome foster children, Allan Kisner and Hannah Bauer, into the family. Known throughout the community as a devoted caregiver and “neighborhood mother,” Alice spent her life nurturing the young, providing a safe harbor for those in need, and serving her church.
A Lifetime of Devotion to Christ
In 1963 Alice Flanigan received Christ and was baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Spirit, under the pastorate of the late Elder James Mayfield. After the demise of Elder James Mayfield, she continued to serve faithfully under the ministry of the late Bishop Stanley Halton. Alice Flanigan served with excellence until 2014 when her health began to fail. She could no longer fill her physical seat in the sanctuary; but her spirit never wavered. Her mind remained on the Lord, and her faithfulness was an inspiration to all who remember her works.
Her ministry had been marked by a deep anointing and a tireless work ethic. She served faithfully in the: Sunday School Ministry: Where she taught with wisdom, winning many souls to the Kingdom. The Baptism and Prayer Room Ministry: Assisting others as they began their walk with Christ. And the Financial Stewardship: Standing as a staunch supporter of the church’s mission and growth.
Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert E. Flanigan; her daughter, Robin Sharon Flanigan; her parents; all of her siblings; and her foster daughter, Hannah Bauer.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory and carry on her legacy: Daughter: Rhonda Lanette Harris (Leroy), Grandson: Darnell Peter Halton, Jr. Great-grandsons: Dinero Halton and Perignon Halton, Great-great-grandson: Jah’sear Osiris Keith Halton. Foster Son: Allan Kisner, Foster Grandchildren & Great-grandchildren: Aprille, Garret (Ayesha), Allan, Jr. (Talisha), Gabrielle, and other family members.
Alice Annie Reen Bell Flanigan lived as a “passionate nurturer” and a true servant-leader. While we will miss her presence, we humbly submit to the will of Almighty God, knowing she has received her crown of righteousness. Done by the order of The Family
