Alicia Hugley Sumpter was born in Cleveland, OH on April 17th 1957 to Sarah B. Oglesby and the late Kyle Sanders Hugley. She was the oldest of three children. She was raised and attended school in Cleveland later graduating from John F. Kennedy in 1974. She attended Cuyahoga Community College and Dyke College. She worked professionally many years for Job Corp and later Progressive before making a decision to follow in her mother’s footsteps to become an entrepreneur. Her passion for numbers and dedication to helping others allowed her tax preparation business to be very successful.
Alicia loved cooking, listening to music, playing cards, entertaining friends & hosting parties. She also loved traveling, which led her to living in northern California for a few years with her uncle Tommy. Alicia was a very loving, caring and generous person. She truly loved to help others. Anyone that knew her was aware of her giving spirit. Back in Ohio in the year 1994 she married the love of her life, Frank Sumpter III and they had two children together (Kyle and Brianna). She enjoyed spending time with her husband & kids attending lots of fun activities and family gatherings.
In January 2000 she suffered a massive stroke that left her partially paralyzed. Alicia had a fighting spirit and would not let her disability stop her from providing for her family and communicating with friends & loved ones. She made it her business to call you every year to wish you a “Happy Birthday”.
Alicia left peacefully on February 18th 2022. She is survived by her mother Sarah (Eugene); her two sisters Bridgette and Crenise (Douglas). Her father Kyle Hugley and Husband Frank Sumpter III proceeded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory to her children Kyle F. (Tiera) and Brianna M. Her grandchildren Kyle Jr. and Kani. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
