*A time to be born:
Althea was born in Melbourne, FL to Willie Plair and Lillian Ford on February 9, 1929.
*A time to learn:
Althea attended Kissimmee High School. She sang in the choir and played basketball for her school.
*A time to love:
She met her first and only love, Herman Brown, in the summer of 1945. They married on July 17, 1948.
*A time to work:
Althea worked as a housewife, went to work at BF Goodrich and after BF Goodrich, she worked at Babcock and Wilcox in Barberton, Ohio. She retired after 40 years of service.
*A time to serve God:
Althea joined Bethel A.M.E. at an early age and attended until she moved to Akron, OH, where she joined the Prince of Peace Baptist Church choir under the pastorate of the late Rev. John Milton Burrell; date of admission August 17, 1958.
*A time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
On March 31, 2024, our Heavenly Father saw fit to call his daughter home. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her daughters, Marie (Larry) Goodson of Grand Rapids, MI, Eleanor Bradford of Akron, OH and Fayetta Martin of Killeen, TX; her son, Herman (Deborah) Brown III of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Clavon Bradford Jr. of Akron, OH, Eric Goodson, Dionne (Lamont) Chivis of Grand Rapids, MI, Travis Martin Jr. of Killeen, TX, Andrea (Joe) Taylor of Powder Springs, GA and Sydney Jackson of Houston, TX; 16 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends.
