Alton “Man” Delmore departed this earthly life on June 13, 2026, in Huntersville (Charlotte), North Carolina, at the age of 70. While his passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who loved him, his life stands as a testament to perseverance, faith, resilience, and the enduring power of family.

Alton was born on August 29, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Freddie and Edna Delmore. Raised with values of determination and hard work, he developed a strong spirit that would carry him through both the triumphs and challenges of life.

Answering the call to serve his country, Alton enlisted in the United States Army at the conclusion of the Vietnam War era. He served honorably and faithfully, earning an Honorable Discharge for his dedicated military service. His time in the Army reflected the courage, discipline, and commitment that would remain defining characteristics throughout his life.

Following his military service, Alton established a long and respected career as a die setter and press operator. He dedicated the majority of his working years to this profession, earning the respect of colleagues through his strong work ethic, reliability, and unwavering commitment to providing for his family.

In 2017, life blessed Alton with a second chance at love when he rekindled a cherished relationship from years past with Marlene. Their renewed connection blossomed into a loving partnership, and he relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, where they built a life together filled with companionship, laughter, and devotion.

One of the most meaningful moments of Alton’s life occurred in 2023, when he was able to connect with his paternal family in Louisiana. This long-awaited reunion allowed him to meet his siblings and extended family members for the very first time, creating treasured memories and strengthening family bonds that he held close to his heart.

Alton’s journey was not without challenges. Throughout his life, he faced numerous obstacles and hardships with remarkable determination and grace. Through his steadfast faith, the support of those who cared for him, and his own inner strength, he continually found ways to overcome adversity. He found joy and comfort in many of life’s simple pleasures, including cooking, listening to music, following sports, and engaging in spirited games of chess. He also valued the encouragement, fellowship, and guidance he received through support groups, which played an important role in his personal journey.

Those who knew Alton will remember his resilience, his strength of character, and his ability to persevere through difficult times. His life serves as a reminder that faith, hope, and determination can carry a person through even the most challenging seasons.

Alton leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life his beloved sisters, Gail Hicks and Pamela Fuggs; his three sons, Alton Jamaal, Demetrius, and Tristan; his faithful and devoted wife, Marlene Delmore; his stepchildren; his grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Though he has departed from our sight, the impact of his life remains in the hearts of all who loved him. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, the lessons he shared, and the memories that will forever be cherished.
