Alvin T. Powell age 92, went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2021. Alvin lived his life to the fullest! Alvin served in the United States Air Force, honorably discharged in 1951.

He is survived by sons: Alvin (Rosemarie) Powell Jr., of Centennial CO, Stewart “Tony” Powell of Houston TX, Eric Powell of Detroit MI; daughter-in-law Paula Powell. Great-grandson who he raised Laurence M. Williams Sr.; grandchildren, Rhonda (Robert) Brown of Fairfield, CA, Tarah Powell of Red Oak, TX, Eric Powell of Fairfield CA, Brienne (Josh) Boyd of Huntington Beach CA, David L. Helton (Detroit, MI), Jack Helton (Detroit MI) Erica Powell (Detroit MI), Anthony Powell (Detroit, MI) Kaiden Powell (Detroit MI) and grand-daughter Djuan Powell (Colorado) along with host of other grandchildren.

 

Great great-grandchildren; Je’shaun Williams​-Foster, Laurence Williams Jr., Jaylen Williams, and Noah Curtis along with a host of other great-great grandchildren; and 2 great-great great grandchildren and another to be born in 2022.

 

Alvin was preceded in death by parents William Powell Sr., and Iola Day-Powell of Detroit, MI. His wife Rose Marie Powell; 2 sons Cornel Robinson of Cleveland, OH and Duane Powell of Denver CO; 5 siblings William Jr., Marion, Eddie, Bennye, and Olivia Powell.

Letter to Alvin: Alvin was a great man even through all the trials and tribulations. He still looked out for us, and when he wasn't feeling good he'd always look at you and say "Ahh I'm doing pretty good, and you know us men are stubborn and wont tell you when things are wrong. When I was younger, and ran his car through his patio, and he took the blame for me so that I wouldn't get in trouble from my parents. He had so much life in him, and I am so grateful that he had a chance to meet his great great great grand daughter (Ge'Leah), I know a lot of greats lol. He was pushing it, born February 6, 1929, Alvin T. Powell now gets to be with his wife my great great grandmother Rosemarie Powell (almost 12 years since her passing), which held a lot and stayed with me. But we wont morn over this, we will celebrate his long life that he walked this earth. I remember putting on your shoes, and you said that I tied them too tight, so I loosened them up for you. I at least got my last hug. Last: I Love You and we will reunite young man. I promise that I will see you in 60 years Mr. Powell (Great Great Grand Dad). You will never be forgotten, and I will always carry your name with pride cause you taught me lot. Love You Always, Shaunno aka Shaun to you
