Andrea was the loving, affectionate mother of two beautiful daughters and a proud grandmother to her favorite girl Zariah. She loved life, family and loved love. She was first married to Marlin Hatchett, and from that beautiful union came her two greatest blessings… her daughters, Destiny and Dynasty. Andrea and Marlin shared many joyful years together, building a family filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories that would last a lifetime.
Later in life, she embraced beautiful years of love and companionship with Bruce Jones, filling her heart with warmth and treasuring every moment together. Andrea cherished the love, laughter, and memories she shared with both, holding each chapter of her life close to her heart.
Family was at the heart of Andrea’s life. She was a loving sister to Rondu Powers and Keli Garett, and a cherished godmother to Ariea. She shared a special bond with her aunts, Elizabeth Hunter (Aunt Ann) and Wanda Simpson ( Aunt Loudie), who played an important role in her life and filled it with love and guidance. Surrounded by an endless big group of cousins she adored, Andrea always made family time special. Whether they were sharing stories, laughing together, or simply enjoying each other’s company at family reunions, those moments meant everything to her.
Andrea (Toochie) lived in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from John Hay High School in 1983 and continued her studies in Early Childhood Education at Ohio University. She went on to manage BP Oil for 10+ years and was the proprietor of Our Precious Jewels Daycare for over 20 years. She was a woman of many talents and careers. She was extremely passionate about working with children and adults with disabilities. Andrea poured her love into her family, her friends, and the many children she cared for over the years. She had a special gift for making everyone feel seen, loved, and appreciated.
Andrea’s favorite hobby was shopping. You could always find her where a sale was happening. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, collecting magnets from each destination, and going to plays. She always made sure she cared for others in many ways. Andrea was a child of God from an early age. She was a member of OMC Fellowship Church of God in Christ where she served as assistant secretary, trustee and enjoyed taking part in the Christmas ministry.
Andrea was a light to everyone who knew her. She was a woman whose caring heart, thoughtful spirit, and joyful presence touched countless lives. She held many roles with love, as a devoted daughter, affectionate mother and grandmother, supportive godmother, and faithful friend.
Andrea’s kindness and laughter will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her memory will live on through the love she gave and the lives she brightened every day.
…. “Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day — unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.”
