Anita Jean Williams (Ford) Walker Hawkins lived a wonderful and full life. Her life belonged to Jah, Jesus Christ, and The Truth. She was born April 18, 1933, to Lila Mae (Millirons) and Monnie Williams, Sr. in Akron, Ohio. The seventh of eight children as one was stillborn at birth.
Anita was active, energetic, intelligent, and devoted to her family. She graduated from Buchtel High School where she excelled in academics, especially Latin and Mathematics. Anita was a cheerleader, a talented violinist, and a superb pianist. She was active in St. John A.M.E. Church activities and sang in the Junior Choir.
She married John Ford (deceased). Four daughters came into this union, Pamela Marie (Deceased), Deborah Georgine, Victoria Lynda, and Laura Michele.
She also attained her nursing degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and worked at Akron General Hospital, the V.A. Hospital in Brecksville, Oh and retired from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Anita was a member of many bowling leagues in Akron and Cleveland; she was an avid Golfer and accomplished dance roller skater. She had a lifelong love of music, reading, and was a constant learner. She enjoyed knitting, traveling, and shopping.
Dr. Walter Ferguson, now at Bethel sent Anita on a search for Truth in 1979. Jah found her or rather she was given that blessing in 1983 at the Roller Rink with a Watch Tower magazine on”What Happens at Death” after the passing of her mother. She started studying in February 1984 and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, September 6th. She worked to show her love and appreciation by living up to her dedication when she answered YES to two questions, which she tried to let rule and direct her life. She prayed that all who knew her saw she loved and tried to live life as a Dedicated Servant of Jah. She had nothing to wish for except for Greater Service in and Love for the Truth.
Anita later remarried and was preceded in death by her late husband Joseph Hawkins; parents Monnie Williams, Sr and Lila Mae (Millirons), sisters Anna Collins, Edith Taylor and brothers Fred Williams, Snow Williams, Monnie Williams, Jr. and Chester Williams; special nieces Jewell (Bonnie) Painter and Lynn Taylor.
