Today, we celebrate the life of Anna Beatrice Penn, who received her wings and took flight to be with the Lord on Friday, March 21, 2025.
Anna B. Penn was born on June 12, 1930, in Barrettsville, West Virginia, to the union of William and Iola Bullock. She attended and graduated from Kimball High School in Kimball, West Virginia, in 1949. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Iola Bullock; her husband, Thomas Penn; sisters Wilma Arnold and Logene Taylor; and grandson Darnell Patterson.
Anna accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Big Sandy Baptist Church in Big Sandy, West Virginia. She later relocated to Jamaica Queens, New York, where she became a member and faithful servant of the Lord at Friendly Apostolic Church under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Leroy Newman. In 1991, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she joined, served, and continued her Christian growth at Christian Fellowship Center under the pastoral leadership of Bishop William & Shirley McKinney. She continued her service and worship at Christian Fellowship under the current pastor, Apostle Rochelle Jones, whom she loved dearly and prayed for constantly.
The Lord blessed Anna with a caregiver’s heart. She would regularly and consistently “get on a bus” to care for friends and neighbors in nursing homes or visit their individual homes to clean, wash, cook, or meet any daily need.
Anna leaves to cherish her memories: two brothers, William and Edward Bullock; eight children: Brenda Preston, Jacqueline Swanson (Brent), Denise Wallace (Darryl), Ronald Penn, Thomas Penn, Elaine Penn, Lisa Penn, and Steven Penn; 29 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; special nieces and nephews; and Christian Fellowship members and faithful friends Louise “Lu” Cantie, Vickie Bullard, and Edna Elder.
By the grace and mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Anna was blessed with a rich life of longevity (94 years). Now, she has entered her eternal rest, where she can sing as loud as she likes and shout “Glory, Glory” as long as she pleases.
Rest in peace, Ma, Mommy, Nana, Grandma! We love you!
