Anna L. Benberry was born March 7, 1926 in Uniontown, PA to Walter Johnson and Nona Mae White. While in PA, she received her high school diploma and became a nursing assistant at Uniontown PA Hospital. Ms. Benberry eventually relocated to Cleveland, OH where she lived out the rest of her life.
Anna lived through many phases and walks of life. She was a God-fearing woman who accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Anna never hesitated to make sure that her faith and belief in the Lord were known. She knew the word of God, and ministered to those who listened.
Anna Benberry was always a hardworking person. She became a tutor for elementary students, worked at Sears, and so on. Anna took pride in everything she did.
Anna was a member of the Eastern Star, Deborah Chapter. She served as a secretary and also received a certificate for “Queen of the South” degree.
Anna was an extraordinary person inside and out. She stood firm in what she believed in and what she spoke about. She never failed to leave you with a laugh, smile, or just shaking your head. Anna will forever be in our hearts.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Nona Mae; her husband, Alonzo Benberry Sr.; her sister, Lillie Ford; and her children, Alonzo Benberry Jr. and Nona Swinney.
She leaves to mourn her passing her Sister, Sharon Johnson; four nieces; three nephews; six grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great great-grands, cousins, family, and friends.
