Annette Marquetta Naylor (Annie) was born on May 24, 1971, in Cleveland, Ohio to Nondell Robinson (Beau) and Rhency Jean Naylor. Both parents preceded her in death. Annette was the youngest of her siblings. Annette was born with severe intellectual disability, and she was not expected to thrive past birth. Annette’s spirit was strong, and she defied the odds with the love of Jesus Christ in her heart. Annette was raised by her mother until she succumbed to her own personal illness at which time Annette was placed in congregate living at the Parkgate Home for 20 years. During this time, Annette attended East Cleveland adult day program. Annette spent the last 3 and a half years of her life living with her oldest sister Tonya.
Annette is survived by brother Marlon Naylor (Ingrid); sisters Tonya Hansard (Naylor), Rhonda Naylor, Lawanna Moore (Michael), Ashi Neely (Alphonso); nieces Lakeisha Naylor (Dee Dee), Lateisha Crawford, Chenell Crawford, Clara Lewis, Moeisha Lewis, Tawanna Glover, Ebony Naylor, Dana Robinson and Doris Robinson; nephews Kurtiss Naylor (Lashay), Kunell Naylor, Derell Crawford, Ramous Lewis, Jr., Roy Glover, Dewan Glover, Lyndale Glover, Don Ja Glasse and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Annette was always smiling and blessing others with fashion compliments. She loved her family unconditionally and enjoyed spending time with them. Sailing on the Cuyahoga River onboard the Nautica Queen or Goodtime III were excursions she truly enjoyed. Niagara Falls, Put-and-Bay, Kings Island and Walt Disney World were some of the travels she experienced. Annette was a spectator at bowling and baseball. Annette’s all-time favorite activities were celebrating hers and other people’s birthdays, clothes shopping and site seeing from the car. She was always thankful to her sister Tonya and courteous to everyone she met.
A limb has fallen from the Naylor family tree. I hear a voice from a daily devotion reading saying, “The best response to losses or thwarted hopes is praise: The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Remember that all good things—your possessions, your family and friends, your health and abilities, your time—are gifts from Me. Instead of feeling entitled to all these blessings, respond to them with gratitude. Be prepared to let go of anything I take from you, but never let go of My hand! You can find joy in My presence.”
