Annie “Dell” Miles (nee Walls) was born on August 5, 1925, in Macon, Georgia to the late Samuel and Phyllis Walls. Dell was the third of nine children born to this union. After graduating from high school, Dell relocated to Akron, Ohio where she raised her family.
Dell professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Prince of Peace Baptist Church. As she continued to grow in her faith, Dell joined her husband and became a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Dell will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She had a wonderful smile and sassy sense of humor. She had a deep love for the Lord, enjoyed reading, cooking, watching westerns, shopping and quality time with family and friends.
Dell departed this life peacefully on Thursday, November 22, 2018, at Summa Health System-Akron Campus surrounded by her family. Dell was preceded in death by parents, Sam and Phyllis Walls; husband, Charles Miles, Sr.; sisters, Emma Wooden and Harriett Weatherly; brothers, Cleveland Walls, Warren Walls, and John Fleming; grandson, Jason Miles; great-great-grandson, Ryan Miles, Jr.; and granddaughter, April Miles.
Dell leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Phyllis Miles; son, Charles (Kimberly) Miles, Jr., and daughter, Nina Miles, all of Akron, Ohio; sisters, Levinnie Miller of Akron, Ohio and Eugenia Mattox of Macon, Georgia; brothers, Leon (Mary) Shabazz of Atlanta, Georgia and Samuel Walls of Brooklyn, New York; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
