Annie Irene Polk was born on October 26, 1928, to the late Freddie and Annie Richardson in Horn Lake, Mississippi. She departed her earthly home on August 24, 2021, surrounded by family.
Rene married the love of her life, R.L. Polk, Sr. on June 13, 1947. She relocated to Akron, Ohio in 1952. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. You could always find Rene in the kitchen making teacake, rolls, pies, and cakes. If you were hungry, you were welcomed into her home for a delicious meal which she freely shared. If you needed a dress altered, if you needed a button sewn on, or needed something hemmed, Rene was there to do that too! She was always available for her family if you needed her, she was there. There are so many precious memories that we will hold on to forever. We were blessed God loaned her to us.
Rene was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. Polk, Sr; brothers, Freddie Jr., and Willie James Richardson; sisters, Mary Fleming, Pearline McNeal and Dorothy Reed; grandson, Darian Ellis Polk; great-grandson, Jerrell Cunningham-Patterson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Gladys Pittman of Nesbitt, MS; daughters, Ruth Patterson, Vivian Ann Burros and Janet Williams of Akron, OH; sons, R.L. (Dana) Jr. of Suffolk, VA, Ernest (Nelly) of Houston, TX, Larry (Mildred) Saulsberry of Lakeland, TN and Ellis (Carla) of Akron, OH; adopted son, Timmy (Gwen) Rogers of Akron, OH; sisters-in-law, Dora Richardson of Memphis, TN and Hessie Malone of Newark, NJ; 25 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
