Annie Pearl Underwood took her last breath on April 3rd, 2024, at 4:44pm after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her family and friends during the last days of her life. Annie Pearl was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend.
Annie Pearl was born September 8th, 1931, on a little country farm in a small town named Eufaula, Alabama with her loving sister Mary Louise Williams. When Annie Pearl was five years old, she contracted polio that affected her left leg. Faced with this condition her faith in God grew stronger and Annie Pearl was determined to beat all odds. Annie Pearl was told at a young age she would never get married or bear any children. Annie Pearl is survived by seven beautiful children and one nephew. Marlon Jackson, Diana (Frank) Cummings, Charles Jackson Jr. (Kimberly Davis), Byron Jackson, Ora Denise Jackson, Edgar Jackson, Bobby Jackson, and Johnny Cooks. Annie Pearl has 27 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Annie Pearl was preceded in death by her parents Cleveland Tyson and Ola Bell Winstead, her husband for over 30 years Willie C Underwood, her daughter Deborah Jackson, and her grandson Marlo Bowen.
Annie Pearl is also survived by three daughters-in-law and one special son Rita, Carmen, Cynthia, and Darnell Riggins.
Annie Pearl was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She loved studying the word, praying for others, and sharing the goodness of the Lord with anyone she talked to too. She touched many lives with her kindness, compassion, and grace. Annie Pearl loved to talk, and she gave some of the best advice. She had a gift of lifting you up with her words of encouragement and wisdom. Annie Pearl loved dogs and getting up in the morning feeding the birds and chipmunks. She loved cooking and cherished every moment with family and friends. Annie Pearl would check on her loved ones everyday leaving voicemails “Hey just checking on you and seeing how you’re doing. I love you.”
Annie Pearl was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman. She was brave, courageous, caring, giving, graceful, blessed, and selfless. Annie Pearl was rarely angry, she made friends wherever she went, and she always had a bright smile on her face. Annie Pearl would give you her last just to make sure you were ok. She was all around an amazing woman and the backbone of this family.
