Anthony Gaither was born on September 22, 1950, in Cleveland, Oh, to the union of James and Beulah Gaither. He was the fourth of five children. He departed this life on February 19, 2024.
Anthony was educated in the Cleveland Public School District. Soon after he enlisted in the United States Army. After serving in Vietnam War, he was Honorably Discharged from the Army on June 1st, 1976.
Returning to the States, Anthony acquired a position with Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, and later retired as a Public Transit Operator, and received many accolades for being an outstanding employee.
Anthony mastered the art of playing the keyboard, he loved music, jazz was his music of choice. He also loved to cook, and he took pride in completing all the repairs in the family house.
If you needed your car fixed, and any repairs done around the house, you asked Anthony. Family and friends would call for the handyman with the skills and the personality to complete the request.
Whatever he did, he did with love, joy and pride. He was very neat and meticulous.
Anthony treasured his time with family and friends. Especially his kids and grandchildren. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for them.
Anthony was a son, brother, father, uncle and a friend; he was always available to give a helping hand.
Preceding him in death was his loving parents James and Beulah Gaither, his brother Alfred Gaither (Colleen).
Also, his youngest son Anthony Ellis, who passed shortly after his father.
He is survived by his loving devoted children- Akeela Woodson, Tawanna Cloyd, Anthony Gaither Jr., Damien Anthony Sims and Andrea Ellis; Grandchildren- Akeem Woodson, Akeesha Hildreth, Akeira Smith, Akeiva Smith, Jasmine Merritt, Shane Anthony Wilcox, Kailynn Gaither, Caleb James Gaither , Dashawn Sims, D’aisha Sims, D’arie Sims, Zion Sims, Tristian Sims, Da’Miyah Sims, Nisaiah Ellis, Jalen Linson, Quentin Spencer III, Azrael Ellis, Jasauni Ellis, Aaniyah Ellis, Ava Ellis, Chase Ellis and Aiden Ellis; Great granddaughter- Aniyah Muhammad; Sisters- Theresa Williams (Wendell), Tondelayo Jackson (Richard), Tanya Evans (Danniel), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
