Ardenia (Dee Dee) Marie Roddy went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2019, after a long illness. Dee Dee was born on December 24, 1946, to the late Turner and Myrtle Sykes in GlenWhite, W. Va. She was the youngest of eight children.
Dee Dee was a student of the Beckley School System and furthered her education attending and graduating from Dret College of Nursing. She retired from Visiting Nurse after 30 years of service.
Ardenia was preceded in death by her parents Turner and Myrtle Sykes, husband Robert Roddy; siblings Joe and Willie Sykes, Ollie Mae Smith, Elizabeth Chandler, and Melverine Heath; grandchildren, Shaynese M. Sykes, Omari, and Ayden Wiley.
She is survived by children Willie Frank Sykes (fiance’ Jamella Palmer ) and Debra Ann (Tommy) Davis; siblings Ernestine Woodbridge and Catherine Webster of Dale City, VA, Roberta Pearson of Medina, OH; sister-in-law Lula Slayton; brother and sister-in-law, Theoplis and Mariann Edwards, sister-in-law, Yvonne Sykes Prater of Cleveland, OH ; grandchildren, Willie Jr., Kevin, Tamika, Celeste, Steven, Tommy Jr. Brian, Tamara and Dezman, and 3 great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Joetta McClain, Patsy Woodbridge and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
