It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Arnold Anthony Johnson. Arnold was born in Cleveland, Ohio to James and Julia Johnson on March 5, 1942. He was the third youngest of 12 children and has now been reunited with all in death. Arnold grew up in Cleveland, attending Cleveland Public Schools from where he graduated in 1960. Following high school, he enrolled in a trade school to become a Welder.

Arnold was an active church member, beginning his worship of the Lord at a young age. He was a long-time member of Mount Pleasant Church of Christ and later became a member of Newburgh Church of Christ. While his church family changed over the years, he ultimately reunited with Mount Pleasant Church of Christ before his passing. Church and the Lord were important to Arnold, and he often led worship and bible studies. Arnold believed that God would carry him through and was a faithful servant of the Lord through his final days.

On July 19, 1975, Arnold married Juanita Johnson. This union was blessed with 2 children, Angel and Byron Johnson. Arnold brought 2 children to this union, and their family continued to grow to include many grandchildren that Arnold treasured. Arnold was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Arnold worked as a final inspector at Alcoa for many years before his retirement from the company. He was a driven hard-working man that valued his employment. After retirement, he was well known for being up early every morning to go get his newspaper and a coffee and would settle down to read the entire paper front to back. One of Arnold’s greatest pastimes was his love of jazz music. He owned several hundred albums and even traveled to see one of his favorite artists once. In addition, he had a love of movies, and his collection of movies was something to see. His favorite genres were action and science fiction.

Arnold departed this life and went home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2026. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Julia, brothers Ronald, Robert, James Jr., Albert, and Richard, and sisters Edna, Annie, Ida, Dorothy, Helen and Debora. Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Juanita. He also leaves son Arnold Johnson, Jr., his daughter LaDonna (Michael) Dixon, his daughter Angel Johnson, and son Byron (Rachel) Johnson as well as grandchildren Dmetrius, D’emarcus, Kamaron, Kaden, Kayla and Cora. In addition, a host of nieces and nephews, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends will cherish his memory. Arnold lived a blessed 84 years in this life and will be missed.
