Arthur James Dudley, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend, passed away on August 19, 2023, at the age of 67. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever warm the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Arthur was the son of Arthur James Dudley, Sr.(deceased) and Johnnie Mae McKinley. Arthur was the fourth of seven children. Clarise Dudley and Eddie Dudley preceded him in death. He began his journey in this world on March 24, 1956, and his spirit departed on August 19, 2023, leaving behind a life well-lived and a family profoundly touched by his presence.
Arthur’s life was defined by his commitment to his family, his dedicated career, and his unending zest for life. After graduating from East Tech High School, he pursued higher education in Texas, setting the foundation for a lifetime of learning and growth. He dedicated 41 years of his professional life to the Regional Transit Authority (RTA), retiring in 2019. His work ethic, passion, and camaraderie left an indelible mark on his colleagues and the entire community.
Arthur’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted husband to Donna Dudley for 46 years, a marriage that served as a testament to their unwavering bond and shared adventures. Together, they raised a family that became Arthur’s pride and joy. His children, Sheena, Sherry, Sierra Lachelle Alston, and Dillen Alston, were his source of inspiration and happiness.
In the role of “Grandpa,” Arthur found a new level of love and purpose. His grandchildren, Marley Stormer, O’kyria Alston-Wulu, O’lijah Wulu, and Ilyana Love, filled his days with laughter, excitement, and a renewed sense of wonder. His legacy lives on through these young hearts that he touched so deeply.
Arthur’s interests were as diverse as his character was vibrant. He loved engaging in spirited discussions about basketball and football, and he never missed the opportunity to play the lottery twice a day. His infectious smile and kind spirit drew people towards him, and his “zero tolerance for nonsense” showcased his honesty and integrity. The impact of his kindness, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his radiant smile will continue to resonate in the lives of those he touched.
Arthur’s memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Donna; children: Sheena Dudley, Sherry Dudley, Sierra Alston and Dillen Alston; grandchildren: Marley Stormer, O’kyria Alston-Wulu, O’lijah Wulu and Ilyana Love; sisters: Patsy King, Diane Dudley, and Euphemia Collins; brother, Antonio Cook, as well as a host of cousins, friends, and extended family members.
