Mr. Arthur Leo Steven (Jack), was born on March 29, 1931 to the union of Arthur (Howard) and Narie E Steven. He departed his life on February 16, 2024 at the age of 92. Born in Monroeville, Alabama grew up in Grand Bay, Alabama and a resident of Cleveland Ohio for 72 years.
Arthur moved to Cleveland Ohio where he took on a job at Republic Steel on May 14, 1952. He was drafted for the Korean War from 1952 – 1954. After getting out of the service he returned to Republic Steel (LTV Steel) and worked there for over 36 years without missing a day of work until a major accident caused him to go out on disability in 1988. During his work history he also took on a part-time job at The Wood and Company in Cleveland Hts.
Arthur married Annie Lee Tate on April 14, 1953 to that union were four children.
Arthur loved traveling, camping, fishing, going to the flea market with his wife and spending time with his family. He made yearly trips to Alabama. Although he did not like to fly that did not stop him from making sure that his family went all over the United States, He covered all states but Hawaii and Alaska.
Due to being the oldest sibling and having to work at a very young age, Arthur only completed up to the 5th grade, but he read all the time and his knowledge surpassed a college degree. He could talk to anyone about any topic and the lessons of his life spoke volumes. Everyone that met him loved him and his commitment to his family.
He was the best handyman ever. He could fix anything from plumbing, electrical, cars you name it he knew how to fix it. If a service person came to the house we knew it was a major project.
He was preceded in death by his loving father Arthur Howard Steven, mother Narie E. Steven, Brother Charles Howard Stevens, Sisters; Luxora Stevens Austin, Mattie Ella Jones, and Annie Grace Jones and his devoted wife of 70 years Annie Lee Steven.
Arthur leaves to cherish his memories four children, Charles Steven of Bedford OH, Veronica Buchanan of Shaker Heights OH, Terri (Craig) Williams of Shaker Heights OH, Monique (Robert) Mitchell of Bedford OH. Grandchildren; Otis (Jill) Buchanan, Justin Buchanan, Mario (Cathy) Steven, Natasha Buchanan, Darius (Tamara) Steven, Derwin Jackson, Denzel Jackson, Kyler Steven-Lovejoy and Dasiah Jackson. Numerous bonus grandchildren, great grandchildren, a great-great grandson.; two loving brothers, Lloyd (Gloria) Stevens Grand Bay Ala and John Allen (Cornelia) Stevens of Mc-Comb Mississippi, and three devoted sisters; Narie Frances (Zannie) Crandle, Dawes Ala, Priscilla Griffin, Queens, NY, Ida Pearl Stevens, Pascagoula, MS; many loving and devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
