Arthur Taliaferro went home to be with the Lord on September 3, 2018 at the age of 74. He was born October 10, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio to parents Arthur M. and Jane R. Taliaferro.
“Sneezer,” as he was called by many, was loved by family and friends alike. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, laughing, watching nature shows, or demonstrating his old police techniques. Arthur’s laugh was infectious and his sense of humor brought smiles and laughter to many. He was a master of the art of storytelling, and loved telling old police stories in an exuberant and animated fashion as only he could.
Arthur graduated from John Adams High School in 1961. He spent a brief period of time at Bowling Green University before deciding to follow his calling as a Cleveland Police Officer in 1965. Early in his career Arthur was assigned to the Hough neighborhood of Cleveland where he walked the beat and was fired upon during the Hough riots. He soon was promoted to homicide detective where he would finish his career proudly serving his community with distinction for a total of 28 years.
Arthur is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Jane Taliaferro; brother, Craig Taliaferro; niece, Destiny Taliaferro and son, Arthur (Tomo) Taliaferro.
Arthur leaves to cherish his memory, sister, Roberta Taliaferro; significant other, Queen Elliott; daughters, Sherri (Scott) Davis, Tina (Lance) Randle and Monica Bradley; son, Shea (Angela) Taliaferro; stepdaughters, Sheritta Shearson, Heidi Joyner and Cynthia Joiner; grandchildren, Michael (Laura) Taliaferro, Brandi (Ken) Johnson, Tramaine (Yamara) Taliaferro, Lance (Secreia) Randle, Michelle Meade, Marquette Shaw, Jr, Myles Taliaferro, Vincent (Lily) Taliaferro, Tyler (Anna) Taliaferro, Tyree Taliaferro, Symmone Jackson, Olivia Jackson, Raven Jackson, Tia Taliaferro, Shea Taliaferro II, Kade Taliaferro, Braxtyn Taliaferro and Khaleb Taliaferro; niece, Alexandria Taliaferro, and nephew Shannon Taliaferro, as well as 22 great grandchildren and a host of cousins, family, extended family and friends.
