Arthur Thomas Burdette Jr. aka Tony was born at Marymount Hospital in Garfield Hts., OH to Arthur & Emma Burdette on January 17, 1960. He was one of five children born to this union. It was a union that carried out Proverbs 22:6…”Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Tony knew Jesus Christ as the Savior that gave His life for his sins.
Tony received his formal education in the Cuyahoga County School System in Cleveland, OH. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. After graduating from high school his working career immediately began.
Tony was a hardworking man. He had such a strong work ethic. He never missed a day and never missed a beat. He was always considered a dedicated, reliable, and trustworthy employee which enabled him to advance on any job he held. In addition, he was his father’s right-hand man when overseeing and maintaining the Burdette real estate properties for many years. He was also a faithful employee to the job he held at the Apostolic Church of the Living God for many years.
One additional (fun fact) not many people were aware of, was that for years Tony sat at his dad’s feet and learned to play the guitar, making Dad and our family very proud.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his significant other of 39 years, Ms. Janet Blair, 2 children, Cheree Burdette, and Arthur Burdette III aka TJ, 2 grandchildren, Fate and Cheyenne. He was also a loving father figure to Wayne, LaKisha, Jeremy and their children. He deeply loved all the extended family members and they truly loved him! He also leaves behind his precious sisters, Valerie (Mike) Neider, Beverly Burdette and Pamela (Tyrone) Carr; 4 nieces and 6 nephews and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bishop Arthur T. Burdette and Teacher Emma L. Burdette and brother, Dwayne L. Burdette.
Tony will be greatly missed!
*Special Recognition goes to Ms. Janet Blair for her dedication and care during Tony’s illness.
