In Loving Memory of ARTIS HOWARD POWELL III

November 25, 1979 – July 25, 2026

Artis Howard Powell III, age 46, entered into rest on July 25, 2026. Born on November 25, 1979, Artis was a loving father, son, brother, partner, uncle, and a loyal friend to many. Artis was a man of stature, enthusiasm, strength, and charisma, whose infectious positive energy and joyous smile brought light to every room he walked into.

Artis attended Euclid High School, where he proudly played basketball and graduated. A naturally intelligent man with a sharp mind for numbers, he could figure out, organize, or build anything with his hands. Artis was a dedicated entrepreneur who owned and operated his own cleaning business while also regularly working side-by-side with his brother in business. He took great pride in improving and excelling in everything he did. Driven by his passion for supporting local youth, he served as a community sports referee, and most recently served as the Stadium Program Director at North Royalton High School.

Guided by a strong foundation of faith and keeping God first, Artis accepted Christ at an early age at Morning Star Baptist Church and later attended Citadel Church of Christ. He remained actively involved in his church family, serving in the children’s ministry and participating in the church basketball league.

In his free time, Artis truly lived life to the fullest. He loved traveling and exploring new places, playing and talking about basketball, refereeing, watching sports, and relaxing with a good true crime documentary. A true people person, he enjoyed listening to music, cooking, and trying new foods with his loved ones. Artis loved helping others and had a gift for making everyone around him feel good. At family gatherings, he was often the center of laughter and warmth, bringing people together with his storytelling and quick humor.

Artis leaves behind a cherished legacy of faith, family, and beautiful memories. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Arielle Powell; his fiancée, Johnisha Bell—whom he adored—and his bonus sons, Jaylen Bell and Dashawn Pitts; his father, Artis Howard Powell Jr. and his wife, Ruth; his mother, Linda Smith; and his brothers and sisters: Angela Powell, Alicia Hubbard (Shaughn), Ashley Powell (Chandra), Peter Powell, Tumbijika Powell, and Malchijah Powell. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and dear friends.
