Asrat Teferra Gizaw passed away on November 13, 2021. He was born on May 18, 1946, in Tulu Bolo, Ethiopia to Asegedetch Wakene and Teferra Gizaw.
Asrat was one of four boys in his family. He was an amazing father, husband, grandfather, and friend. Being a provider was a natural instinct of his. He was a well-respected man.
At an early age, he joined the Imperial Ethiopian Air Force and served until 1978, when he was honorably discharged. While serving in the Ethiopian Air Force, he composed music and genuinely enjoyed playing many instruments among the other members of the Air Force, and also earned the title of Master Technician for his outstanding work.
Asrat met Zenebech (Zenny) Sahle in the late seventies. On May 1, 1979, they embarked upon marriage in the Municipality of Debre Zeit, Ethiopia. Together, they raised two children: Fitsum A. Teferra and Merron A. Teferra.
He was a soft-spoken, kindhearted spirit with a strong will. Asrat never surrendered to his afflictions and always persevered with the greatest hopes to live. He fought a long and hard battle. However, his family wholeheartedly believes that he is truly at peace now in the presence of God.
Asrat is survived by his wife and children. Although he is gone, he will live on in our hearts.
